On October 21, 2014, I awoke to my wife, Maureen, no longer breathing at Seton Hospital in Austin. I made her a promise. To never forget. The generous invitation of the Board of Directors, Peter Connor, 2026 Conference Chairperson and the Planning Committee to ACCA CCAF Madison 2026 lets me keep that promise.
I’m excited to be bringing the Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian Limited Edition Airstream® that will be at the heart of Team Powdered Donut’s “mobile love letter” to the shores of Lake Monona and the Monona Terrace. As the agenda notes, please feel free to visit me on Sunday morning, April 12, where you can peek at the Airstream and have a powdered donut, provided by Entenmann’s. From the afternoon of April 11 to April 14, I have also set aside several windows of opportunity for those that would like to pop over for a one-on-one conversation. The Tour
Gary’s heartfelt journey will span the U.S., stopping at all participating 73 NCI-designated, and aspiring, comprehensive cancer centers and other meaningful locations along the way, starting with a Southwest leg in the Fall of 2026 and continuing across the country in June 2027. At every stop, powdered donuts will be shared and stories collected – echoing the spirit of StoryCorps® – down to the Airstream in which Gary will travel. More details here.
