Donuts With Gary
A National “Love Crusade” for Cancer Centers
At ACCA CCAF Madison 2026, join the movement to collect and preserve the stories behind cancer care — “One Story. One Moment. One Donut at a Time.” Born of Gary’s annual tradition taking powdered donuts to special places on the anniversary of his late wife, Maureen’s, passing from metastatic breast cancer on 10.21.2014, Team Powdered Donut™ is my promise to honor her by celebrating the people, stories, and communities that fight cancer every day.
I’m excited to be bringing the Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian Limited Edition Airstream® that will be at the heart of Team Powdered Donut’s “mobile love letter” to the shores of Lake Monona and the Monona Terrace. As the agenda notes, please feel free to visit me on Sunday morning, April 12, where you can peek at the Airstream and have a powdered donut, provided by Entenmann’s. From the afternoon of April 11 to April 14, I have also set aside several windows of opportunity for those that would like to pop over for a one-on-one conversation. Feel free to reserve a 20 minute slot that works best for you at the link below.
The Tour
Gary’s heartfelt journey will span the U.S., stopping at all participating 73 NCI-designated, and aspiring, comprehensive cancer centers and other meaningful locations along the way, starting with a Southwest leg in the Fall of 2026 and continuing across the country in June 2027. At every stop, powdered donuts will be shared and stories collected – echoing the spirit of StoryCorps® – down to the Airstream in which Gary will travel. More details here.
What Is Involved in a Stop? How Can You be a Part of the “Love Crusade?”
One by one, cancer center by cancer center, story by story, a bright national light will shine on the importance of NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers across the country and their vital role in survival for those with cancer. You can download this PDF for more details on what a stop includes, your role as a host, and opportunities for fundraising activities to support your own work and cancer center.
